His suggestion was that aj team of players from country unions Should be' selected, and matches played at Auckland, Wellington, Christehurch and Dunedin, the team to be known as the "New Zealand Country Team." The letter was referred to a s'ub-committee..

The Appeal Council forwarded its decision, upholding the appeal of the Otago Rugby Union against tihe action of the New Zealand Rugby Union in acceding to the appeal of L. M. Tan&ey against this disqualification by the Otago Union for a term of six playing Saturdays. The Appeal"Council did not accept the contention of the New Zealand Union that evidence given by one play-1 er against another at an ' (as was done in this case) was privileged. The principle was a wrong one, because the committee should, have power to in- 1 quire into any matter that "might tend to bring discredit upon- football, and to punisn offenders. A copy of its case in an appeal against the disqualification of J. Marshall for two years by the New Zealand Rugby Union was forwarded by the Wellington Union. A sub-committee was appointed to draw. up the New Zealand Union's case for submission to the Appeal Council. A number of disqualifications, made by various! unions, were endorsed and made general. The fixing of a date for an inter-island match was deferred umtil an intimation is received from various unions as to their programme c-i representatives matches this season. REMARKS RESENTED.
