Prominent cricketers in Johannesburg are hopeful that Mr. Abe Bailey will surmount the deadlock over the visit to Australia. Sydney, July 7. The (Board of Control has received a cable confirming the decision of the South Africans not to visit Australia without a guarantee. There is little chance of ihe Board receding from its decision. ARMSTRONG. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. W. W., Armstrong has declined the offer of the secretaryship of the Auckland Cricket Association at a salary of £250 a year. The Board of Control has cabled to the South African Association, regretting the decision not to send a cricket team to Australia, thus putting an end to the triangular matches.
