GOVERNOR AND FARMERS.
m mi. ...' MEETING THE SONS OF THE SOIL A NEW DEPARTURE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. <■ ■ Wellington, Last Night - His Excellency the Governor will viait Auckland for the purpose of opening the Winter Show. As a large number of farmens will be in town on that'fcccasion, it was suggested that Lord Magton should be approached with a view to his holding a levee. A gentleman in Auckland interviewed the Governor ia the matter, and it was mentioned to His 1 Excellency by Mr. Massey, a tonner president of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Society. Lord Islington at once fell in with the idea, and said he would certainly hold a levee, and, moreover, would be , delighted if the farmers attended in ordinary clothes, instead of the conventional morning or evening dress, so that he might meet and shake hands • with as many of them as possible. Being an agriculturist himself, he would be only too delighted to meet them. It is quite possible that an interesting speech may be expected from His Excellency on that occasion.
