ANGLICAN CHURCH.
WELLINGTON DIOCESAN SYNOD. By Telegraph.—Press Association.' Wellington, Last Night. J The Wellington Diocesan Synod opened -V' to-day. In his address, Bishop Wallia spoke in favor of religious teaching in State schools. Resolutions, petitions, and plebiscites, he said, were no good, because the people did not care enough at present about this matter. The Syiiod V would not succeed without the co-opera-tion of other churches. They must confer with their former allies, and with representatives of the Roman Catholic Church, not only because of their opposition, which if repeated would fee a serf- -; ous hindrance to the success of the scheme, .but chiefly because of the Mctiflces they had made for the establisHment and maintenance of their own schools, unaided by anv grant from the State. Justly their claims deserved sympathetic consideration.
