WEAKNESS IN THE STOP BANKS. • By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. I Blenheim, Yesterday. The rain of the past week baa caused a big flood in the Wairau river aid tributaries. Tua Marina is inundated with six (feet of water on the main road, and the Para swamp is a sea of water. The water is still rising, and it is feared considerable damage will be done and,' loss of stock caused. The water has found a weak spot in the town banking at Blenheimi and , fears are entertained that it will break I through'and flood the northern portion of the town. But for the_ overflow ■ channels in Blenheim and vicinity, which are working well, the tovn would have ..been under water before now.
