STRUCK DOWN DEAD

ALTERCATION IN AN HOTEL. ESCAPE OF THE CULPRIT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, List Night. A man named John Price, lately employed as a cook at the Lake Hotel, Takapuna, while in the bar of the Waitemata Hotel, Queen street, to-night, was struck a blow by an unknown man during an altercation, and when picked up was found to be dead.

Till a post mortem examination is made, it is impossible to say whether death was the result of the blow or the fall.

The man who is alleged to have struck the blow made his escape.
