A meeting in connection with the Knyvett ease was held in His Majesty's Theatre to-night, and was attended by about 150 people,; Mr. R. Brtoisley preuding. Speeches were giyen by Messrs. Arm

Barclay moved That this meeting, having heard tin facts of the Knyvett case as set fort! by speakers from Auckland, expresses its strong opinion that Parliament (should pass necessary legislation tc provide for a new and fair trial foi Captain Knyvett and prevent a travesty of justice similar to the Knyvett case occurring, in the case of other persons who may be officially accused of military crimes in the Dominion."
Lieut-Colonel Smith moved, as an amendment, SThat this meeting declines to take an;> steps that will hamper the Department in the maintenance of discipline in the forces of the Dominion." The chairman expressed a doubt as to whether this was really an amendment, but LieutCol. Smith, amidst hooting from the audience that was distinctly' hostile to his proposal, insisted that, it l)e put. When it was seconded and 'put, he was the onlv man who voted for it, and Mr. Barclay's motion was carried.
