BUSINESS NOTICES.
A final reminder is given of to-night's meeting in the Town Hall for the purpose of forming a new tennis and croquet club. A good membership seems to be practically assared, and it is hoped to conduct the club on a moderate membership subscription. As before stated, (the courts will be delightfully situated, ■and handy to bot& borough and suburban residents. Five playing lawns are jto be provided and; equipped. The proJmoters are anxious to have a big meetting to-night. The Mayor will take the >chair at 7.45 p.m. ', Notwithstanding the high prices of ;wool, cotton, and leather and the upward tendency of the markets, the Melbourne's great rebuilding sale prices are even lower than they have been during any similar event—the result of forehanded arrangements made months ago < when prices and materials were at their .point. Morey and Son's gigantic sale opened I yesterday, the pressure of business .being ! so* great that the task of serving customers was exceptionally hard. Hundreds of .parcels were, secured, however, each and every one of which contained wonderful bargains. The sale will he resumed at 9 o'clock this morning. Messrs. Skeates Bros., jewellers, wish btfr readers to know that there are still being sent from Auckland new goods at lowest sale prices, and that a lot of money can be saved by purchasing now. Tenders are now being called by the West End Bowling Club for the cutting, carting, and laying of the turf for the bowling green. The club intend to. laiy the whole of the green (eight rinks), and the tenders will close with the secretary, Mr. H. J. Hobbs, at his shop, Devon-street West, on Wednesday, 6tb July, at 5 p.m. Specifications can-now be seen at the secretary's shop. 'Numerous enquiries are .being made about the baby shoW to be held by the Poultry Society on Thursday, 20th July, and mothers and fathers are asked to note that entries must be in foy Tuesday, 12th July, at 8 p.m. Entries for children's pets, school work, cooking classes, home industries, and all other sections except poultry will close on that day. The secretary informs us that he has already received several entries in the baby classy and it is expected that entries will be large, as valuable prizes are offered and competent judges appointed. A special prize donated by Mr. I Hall, of Lepperton, has been allotted "to the ; best bird in the selling class. To-morrow morning ushers in the opening of White annual winter sale, nn unexampled opportunity for every careful housewife to replenish the wardrobe and linen chest. As evidenced by the circular now in the hands of our readers, there are bargains in plenty and in every department.
