Thomas Craig, whose case presented many parallel points to the chase and capture of Powelka, was found guilty ef murder at Grantham and recommended to mercy. . In passing sentence of death the judge said that the 'recommendation would be forwarded to the proper quarter. Craig remarked that he had nothing to say, and was willing to face death. Craig murdered a man named Hendersop, and wounded Mrs. Henderson, his former sweetheart, who had while Craig was serving seven years' imprisonment. Craig escaped, and was captured while asleep in a hayloft, after lie had been tramping for three weeks.) TJie police traced him through thefts of, food. He had a revolver in his pocket ■when arrested.
