SHEEPBREEDERS' ASSOCIATION
ALLOCATION OF THE CHAMPIONSHIPS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston iNorth, Saturday.' At the annual meeting of the NewZealand Sheeip'breeders' Association yesterday Mr. George Wheeler, chairman, reported the allotment of the following champion shields for spring shows:— Lincoln ram, Auckland; English Leicester, Hawke's Bay; Border Leicester, Masterton; Shropshire, Manawatu; South Down, Wanganui; Lincoln ewe, Poverty Bay; English Leicester ewe, Wairarapa; Shropshire ewe, Auckland!
Under the altered conditions the competition will be open to sheep entered in the New Zealand Flock Book or any other recognised Flock Book. The following recommendations of the council were agreed to: —That as the council had failed to arrange with the South Island Flock Book council procedure for the alteration of the present rules, the council take the necessary steps to revise the rules to enable the INorth Island Association to be registered; that the rule which prohibited the issue of an export certificate to others than the breeders should be amended to enable the purchaser of any flock book sheep to have an export certificate issued, provided that lie makes a declaration that the sheep are for export and that on inspection the commissioner's report is favorable.
