Charlton has been arrested here, and has confessed to the murder of his wife at Lake Como.

Charlton was a passenger by the Princess Irene, and travelled under the name of Coleman. His victim's jewellery was among liis baggage. He confessed that he struck lier after a quarrel three times on the head with a heavy mallet.

When being cross-examined at the police station he attempted to shoot Mir. Hayes, Chief of Police.
