The funeral of the late Mr. James Wilson, who died at Otaki, is to take place at New Plymouth. Messrs. Walter Bewley, L. G. Spencer, and A. P. O'Leary were passengers to Auckland last night per 6*. Rarawa. The Rev. F. Carew Thomas, late vicar of Inglcwood, is temporary in charge of the parish of St. Barnabas, Mt, Eden. His Honor Mr. Justice Chapman is to preside at the New Plymouth sessions of the Supreme Court, opening next week.

The terms of the Hon. T. Kennedy Mac Donald (Wellington), Hon. William Beehan (Auckland) and Hon. Henry Francis Wigram (Canterbury) as Legislative Councillors expired on Wednesday last. Cabinet yesterday reappointed these Councillors for a further period of seven years.—Press Association. A wedding which attracted a considerable amount of local interest was solemnised at St. Cuthbert's Church, Manaia on Wednesday afternoon, when Mr. Robert W. Carpenter, formerly of Manaia and now resident &i Auckland, was married to Miss Amelia Emily •;thel Butterfleld, youngest daughter of Mrs. C. Butterfleld, of Dunedia. Mr. T. Guthrie Bowie, at one time manager of the Christchurch Meat Co., Timaru, and more recently N.S.W. manager for Messrs John Cooke and Co., who recently started in .business on his own account, has now joined as manager Mr. Arthur Kidman, frozen meat exporter. Mr. Kidman left for London, via Canada, last month, and wijl be absent from Australia for about six months. Mr. Charles Zachariah, for some years a member of the bead office staff of the Public' Trust Office, has tajen appointed district manager for the Public Trustee at New Plymouth and manager of the West Coast settlement Natiye Reserves in Taranaki. Mr. Zachariah, who is expected to take up his new duties on July 1, succeeds Mr. Jack, lately transferred to the Native Department Mr. Henry Burling, New Zealand's oldest resident, has received the following letter from Sandringham, Norfolk, dated MaTch 18, 1910:—'IMisa Knollys is commanded to convey to Mr. Henry Burling the Queen's warmest congratulations'on the occasion of the celebration of his 11.0 th birthday, and to say what pleasure it gave her Majesty to accept a photograph of such an aged subject of the King. Miss Knollys is also to inform Mr. Burling that the Queen read with much interest the account of his-life, and that her Majesty hopes he may be spared' to spend many more anniversaries surrounded by his numerous grandchildren." Mr. J. C. Morey.of New Plymouth, arrived in London on Saturday by the P. and 0. liner Mongolia from Auckland, aftef a most enjoyable trip (says the Wellington Times' London correspondent). He is combining business with pleasure, and according to present arrangements will be here about six or seven weeks. He intends, if time permits, to have about eight or ten days on the Continent, going perhaps as far as Venice, and after returning to London he will proceed to Manchester, then to Glasgow. Mr. Morey will bo leaving London about the middle of July for Vancouver, when he hopes to join the e.s. Makura, leaving there about August 12th for Sydney. He expects to arrive in New Plymouth about the middle of September.
