A YOUTH'S LAPSE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gore, Last Night. A youth 17y g years of age, named David Jolly Milne, pleaded guilty to charges of forging and uttering a cheque, and was remanded to the Supreme Court. CHARGES AGAINST A POSTAL OFFICIAL. Wellington, Last Night. Edward John Falkiner appeared on remand at the Magistrate's Court today to answer the following charge:— That on August 1 last, contrary to nis duty, he opened a postal packet sent from Auckland, and which was addressed to Louisa Robertson. Mr. W. H. D. Bell, who represented the Crown, asked that the charge be withdrawn. The object of the information was to vindicate the law, and as Falkiner hod been convicted of theft in the Supreme Court, and was now serving sentence, sufficient had been done already. His Worship, Mr W.G.Riddell, S.M., accordingly intimated that the charge would be withdrawn by leave of the Court. v Another information against Falkiner for alleged misdelivery of' postal matter was dismissed last Wednesday, His Worship holding that postal officers took too much for granted in giving Falkiner letI ters.
