STAMPING OUT CONSUMPTION
A VICTORIAN SCHEME. I By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, June 23. The Health Society is organising a campaign with the object of stamping but consiimption. The proposals include compulsory notification of the disease. The City Health Officer claims that as a result of the Health Board's efforts the deaths from phthisis have fallen from 2.03 per thousand in 1885 to .63 per thousand in 1909. This meant 784 lives saved in the metropolitan area last year which would have been lost through consumption if the earlier ratio had been continued.
