FIRES.
OUTBREAK AT MANGATAINOKA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Pahiatua, Wednesday. A twelve-roomed house ;>t Mangataino'ka, owned and occupied by W. J. Upton, was completely destroyed by fire at 4.30 this morning. The only oeeu.pants were Mr. and Mrs. Upton, who are an aged couple, and a young cirl. The last-named woke and found her room full of smoke, and gave the alarm. The origin of the fire is"a mystery. The insurances are: On the house £l5O, and the furniture £25, in the National. The Uptons are heavy losers.
