A STRIKE AT PAPAJROA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, Wednesday. The Paparoa strike is settled and'the men will resume work in the morning. PALMERSTON SHOW. Palmerston North, Last Night. The second day of the National Dairy Show was 'held in pleasant weather. There was a large attendance. Rongokokako won the cheese championship. SWEET PEA SOCIETY. Palmerston North, Last Night. The National Sweet Pea Society of New Zealand decided to hold its urst annual show at Palmerston North on December 7 and 8 next. A "WASH-UP." Hokitika, Last Night. The Ross Goldiields, Ltd., "washed up" this afternoon, hut information as to the amount of gold won has not boon made puhlic. GISBORNE'S NEW DREDGE. Gisborne, Last Night. The Gisborne Harbor Board to-day took over the new dredge Maui from the contractors, Messrs. Simmons and Co., of Glasgow. Tfcs cost is £.'14,000. and with the hopper barges and'accessories, the total expenditure will he nearly £40,000. It is hoped by Christmas time to have the channel so deepened that vessels of the Mapourika, Takapuna and Rotoiti type will 'he able to tie up to the wharf.
