The Gisborne Harbor Board to-day took over the new dredge Maui from the contractors, Messrs. Simmons and Co., of Glasgow. Tfcs cost is £.'14,000. and with the hopper barges and'accessories, the total expenditure will he nearly £40,000. It is hoped by Christmas time to have the channel so deepened that vessels of the Mapourika, Takapuna and Rotoiti type will 'he able to tie up to the wharf.
