MOISTURE IN BUTTER. Melbourne, June 21. Addressing dairy factory managers, Mr. O'Callaghan, State dairy expert, criticised the butter standard recommended by a recent Pure Food Conference. He considered if the Federal Government adopted the standard those manufacturers who submitted for sale or exported butter containing less than 84 .per cent, of butter-fat or more than 14 per cent, of water and more than 3 per cent, of boric acid could he dealt with for adulteration. The average of New South Wales butter only contained 83 per cent, of fat and 13.5 per cent, of water. THE RONALD HARPER. CASE. Melbourne, June 22. A representative meeting adopted a resolution of sympathy with respect to Robert and William Harper and BrockKemp, recently acquitted of charges of conspiracy, condemning the harrassmenfc and indignity to which they were subjected, and urging the appointment of a Royal Commission to enquire into the circumstances of the case.
