THE COURTS.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. The Chief Justice gave reserved judgment in the ease Nathaniel Miller, police sergeant, v. William G. Lamb, of Masterton. This was an appeal by the Crown against a Magistrate's decision. The point at issue was whether New Zealand wine may be sold in no-license districts. In the Judge's opinion privilege to winesellers was not .to exist in a no-license district. The Magistrate's decision was erroneous, and the appeal must be allowed. In reply to a request for permission to appeal, the Judge said he doubted if he had power to grant it. The matter was allowed to stand over till to-morrow.
