ROOSEVELT'S RETURN.

Mr. Roosevelt's reception in New York exceeded any similar demonstration of joy since the Spanish War. The fleet, which blew a chorus of welcome with syrens, was lavishly decorated. Two hundred excursion steamers were in the bay, and the flagship fired a salute of twenty-one guns. , The Mayor and prominent men received the ex-president, and a great procession took place, Mr. Roosevelt's escort being his original Roughriders of the Spanish War and veterans. There were hundreds of thousands of people forming a dense mass four miles long in Broadway arid Fifth Avenue. The parade was non-political. Another demonstration took place when he arrived at Oyster Bay. American newspapers, discussing Mr. Roosevelt, say he has gained additional prestige, and there is necessity for his influence for the wellbeing of the Republican Paitf; ,' .
