FIRES.
BLAZE IN CIIRISTCHURCH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Cnristehurch, Last Nig-ht. A fire occurred this morning in the «-: stairs portion of the residence of Mr. <i"orgo Gerard, Fendalton, which is a wooden house of twenty rooms. The •V ; <ride sent out its steam engine, and the fire was confined to the upper floor, although other rooms and furniture -.- ere considerably damaged by Avater and remove). The house is insured for £2soo -nl the furiiituro for £SOO in the Royal Assurance Company.
