'A Press Association telegram states that Mrs. Ella McDonald, widow of the late Aloysius McDonald, manager of the Bank of* New South Wales in Wellington for some years, died suddenly at Levin on Saturday. Mr. Henry Hill, Inspector of Schools, who is about to leave Napier on a trip to the Old Country, was on Saturday presented with a clieque for a' considerable amount subscribed by the public and private teachers of Hawke's Bay.— Press wire.

To-morrow evening Superintendent F. C. J. Bellringer, of the New Plymouth Fire Brigade, will he entertained at aj dinner by the Brigade, and presented with the gold star for twenty-five years' continuous service. The Hon. T. Mackenzie has been invited to be present. The presentation will probably be made by Mr. J. Pat.m, president of the New Plymouth Fire Board.
