TARIFF, LAND TAX AND FINANCE. Received June 18, 1.0 p.m. Melbourne, June 17. Mr. Fisher, Prime Minister, states that the opening of the session of the Federal Parliament will principally be devoted to finance. The tariff, land tax and financial relations with the States will be the chief subjects for the consideration of the Government. It is proposed that a vote of £IO,OOO towards the expenses of the visit of the British Association to Australia be made, and that the sum of £IOOO be "first placed on the estimates to test the feeling of Parliament on -uhe subject. If Parliament is favorable, the vote will be increased to £IO,OOO.
