A CLOUD BURST. HUNDREDS OF LIVES LOST. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Buda Pesth, June 16. A cloud burst in Krassoszoerney county, Hungary, killing many; 259 bodies have been recovered, and it is feared many more have been killed. Whole townships have been washed away. A NATIONAL DISASTER. ST. GOTHARD TUNNEL BLOCKED. CROPS AND VINES DESTROYED. BAD LOOKOUT FOR THE BALKANS. Received June 17, 11 p.m. Berne, June 17. The floods in Switzerland are a national disaster. A landslide has blocked the St. GotSiard tunnel, and the Rhine has risen fifteen feet. The crops at Basle are inundated, and the vines destroyed. A mother and her eleven children were drowned at Altdorf. Her husband, with the remaining two children, were saved. A steamer for Lucerne was unable to ■'eh the submerged landing stages. The prospects of the harvest in the Balkans are seriously endangered by the floods.
