PALMERSTOiX SITTIXCIS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night. 'At the Supreme Court'to-day, before Mr. Justice Cooper, the ease of the National Mortgage and Agency Corrfpany (the Longburn Freezing Works) against Axel Frederick Anderson was finished. The claim was for £502 (is 10d, the value of 27 "not negotiable" cheques, cashed 'by defendant for Archibald Muir. who was some days ago convicted of the theft of three cheques drawn for tallow and bones, which were never delivered, and made out to a fictitious name. The jury, after a retirement of three hours, returned a verdict in the form of answers to .seven issues put by the Judge, whicu practically amounted to a verdict for plaintiff for £44 Is 4d, the value of one particular cheque. Counsel for plaintiff gave notice of intention to move" fbr a new" trial: Tlhe' Judge reserved consideration on several law points. ,l '■;' • '•-■' ' '•'■'•■ '
