INGLEWOOD NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent). The installation meeting of the local Druids was held on Wednesday evening last. There was a large attendance, including several visitors from Waitara, Eltham and Stratford. The installation ceremony was conducted by Bro. C. Coad, District President. The following otficere were invested:—A.D., Bro. C. Reed* V.A., Bro. 'F. Hellier; sec., Bro. W. H. Taylor re-elected); treasurer, Bro. T. W. Rolston (re-elected); 1.G., Bro. Nielsoa; 0.G., Bro. Patten; A.D.B's., Bros. Arthur and Clarke; VA.B's,. Bros. Henry and Welham; minute secretary, Bro. N. Sutherland: auditor, Bro. Gow. Bro. T. E. Hamerton, P.D.P. (Bro. Gilbert, P.G.P., being absent) then presented Bro. W. H. Taylor with a Past Secretary's collar, for continuous service. Bro. Hamerton eulogised the work done by Bro. Taylor, who responded suitably. Bro. S. 0. Spurdle, J.P.A., then presented Bro. Paterson wnu a lodge sash for installing the greatest number of new members during his term as AJ). A supper was subsequently held at the Coffee Palace. Bro. C. Reid, A.D., occupied the chair, and Bro. P. Hellier, V.A., the vice-chair.
The Eev. Albert, Presbyterian minister, is : at present suffering from a severe attack of congestion of the lun'gg, and the Rev. S. S. Osborne will temporarily take his place.
The Presbyterian organiser, the Rev. Jupp, gave an address to a fair attendance in the Church on Thursday evening last.
Mr. F. Bennett, who is leaving for England shortly to have an operation performed on his eye, will be tendered a farewell social on Monday evening. The Foresters' Lodge are the principal organisers.
The Inglewood hockey ladies journeyed to Eltham on Thursday last to fulfil their fixture with that team. They axrived home defeated and wet, but not disheartened. Girls who would turn out on a day like Thursday to play hockey are good sports.
The absence of the "fine weather sport." who patronises the football matches locally, made an appreciable difference to the takings at the gate on Thursdav last.
The golf match to have eventuated on Thursday was postponed owing to the weather.
