ACCIDENT INSURANCE.

IMPORTANT REDUCTIONS IN PREMIUM RATES. ; By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, list Night. A circular issued by the New Zeailand , Federated Builders «nd Contractors' Asi s'ociation states that an important reduction of premium rates for accident insurance has just been obtained, equivalent to 33 per cent., and builders and contractors are urged to give their business to the office making the reduction. The tariff rate was 22s ipev cent, until it was seen how the new Compensation for Accidents to Workers Act was going to affect companies. Then it was reduced to 20s per cent., at which rate it stood for some time. In Dunedin, however, forward contracts made a few years ago at a rate of lis .per cent, are in operation at the present time, but they are on the point of expiry. The tariff reduction movement was negotiated in Auckland. ft is complained in the circular above referred to that builders have for a considerable time past, owing to a combination of insurance offices, been paying much higher premiums than they had been previously paying. Efforts to obtain a reduction of the tariff rate have I been made from time to time, but up to | now have been unsuccessful.
