K.j D. Hoben, editor of the Manawatu Dnilv, Times, was commenced. The claim is| for £")01 damage* for alleged libel arising out of a paragraph contained in a, report on Millar and Giorgi's fire, which occurred at the time of the Powelka scare. The paragraph is as follows: — "Mr. Warner states that at Millar and Ciorgi's fire an individual, claiming to be I an assessor, attempted to interfere with him in carrying wit his duty." A similar action is being brought against Mr. Warner, superintendent of the Fire Brigade. The case for the prosecution is finished, and the <lefence will be heard I to-morrow.
