HUGH PATON MISSION

Wet winter weather is not generally conducive to successful missions, but Mr. Pnton's mission is an exception. St. Andrew's Church last night was well attended. Mr. Paton's text was, "To bring us to Cod." Incidentally the miSsioner pointed out that Christ was a great deal more than an example: he, referred to the mistaken views that the little book "In His Steps" had given rise to; the impossibility of following the example without accepting the Saviour. There is nothing emotional about Mr. Paton: simplicity and directness are his strong points, and although not so abundant in illustrations last evening, he displayed a gifted and sane imagination. The words of his text he used as a lamp to illumine various scenes in the life of Christ. The word "bring" has clearer meaning after Mr. Paton lias used itThere is nothing of "the solitary way" about Christian"faith as Mr. Paton understands it. Mr. Paton is a man of wide travel, and this fact adds much to his culture. The services are to be continued in St. Andrew's Hall to-night and; in the Theatre on Sunday.
