HUGH PATON MISSION

Notwithstanding the attraction of the opening of the Taranaki Winter Show, a very full congregation attended St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church to hear Mr. Paton last evening. The speaker chose as his subject, "Take Mv Yoke." With great force and vigor Air. Paton drew out the thought of companionship implied in the word yoke, and compared other yokes. The missioner illustrated his points with telling stories which sometimes gave rise to a smile; his Christianity is of the robust and manly type, which «orms to be reflected in his sunny personality. During the latter part of the address one could not help contrasting the rather sad opening words of Browning's "Easter Day," "How very hard it is to be a Christian," with Mr. Paton's conception of the Christian life. He drew out and emphasised the phrase, "For mv yoke is easy," with sound logic. The singing was exceedingly hearty. Mr. Paton sw'eaks in St. Andrew's to-night and to-morrow.
