PALMERSTON WINTER SHOW. By Telegraph—Press Association. | Palmerston North, June 8. i There is an increase in butter, cheese, ■ dairy produce, fruit and farm pro-! ducts at the National Dairy Show of fully 30 per cent. 0:1 the entries received in the same classes last year. In butter and cheese there are 281 en-' tries, and apples alone total 285. Eighteen separate collections are being en-| tered for the championship section, re-' presenting both islands. For the chal-' lenge cup, farmers' butter class, 32 entries have been received. LITERARY ARTICLE CRITICISED. Wellington, Yesterday. During the sitting of the North Island Appeal Board to-day, Mr. Haselden,i S.M., who is chairman of the South Is-! land Board, but is temporarily acting as' chairman of the North Island Board,] warmly criticised an article attacking] himself, which appeared in the last issue : of the Railway Review, under the heading, He said it was grossly misleading, and based on ignorance, and that the write was not an independent that the writer was not an independent paper. He asked Mr. Veitch, president of the Society, to bring the matter before the 'Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants with a view of getting it disavowed, otherwise no self-respecting administrator would sit on the Board if he was to be open to attacks of the nature made in the Review. Mr. Veitch said lie would bring the matter before the Society.
