Dr. Parkin, who toured South Africa to inquire into the reason why Rhodes Scholars from that country excelled in sports and failed in work, whereas Australian, New Zealand and Canadian representatives secured scholarships and ■prizes, reports that lie considers it desirable that South Africans should spend a year or two in their own Universities before going to Oxford.
