N.S.W. GOVERNMENT'S POLICY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Sydney, June 8. Mr. Wade, in a speech at Chatswood, outlined the Government policy. The principal feature was the opening up of lands. Resumptions totalling 170,000 acres were ready to be placed before Parliament, and an additional 250,000 acres would be ready shortly. The Lands Department would be reformed in order to remove congestion and make settlement easier. The railway system | would be improved by duplication and cross-country lines. It was proposed to float a special loan of £2,000,000 locally for the purpose of internal development. Education, both primary and secondary, would be made entirely free, a.nd high schools would be established throughout the country. Long distance freights would be reduced to the extent of £20,000. Police pay would be increased fid per day. The proposals also include a referendum for reduction of members of Parliament, and reforming the Legislative Council. No additional taxation would be proposed. Mr. Wade also announced that the Government had appointed a Commission to inquire into the question of railway decentralisation.
