The ipiano used by the Fisk Jubilee Singers at their Xew Plymouth concert was a Bechstein, kindly lent by the British and Continental Piano Company. The year 1010 will see a marked advance in tailored gowns for ladies' wear. The divided skirt, slow to become popular until of late, is certain to be the correct garment for all outdoor sport—golfing, hockey, etc. Messrs. Cooper and Co. are making their display of English and Parisian materials of exclusive designs for this season's wear to-day and to-morrow at the White Hart Hotel. The Melbourne's (practice is to give value as well as to preach it. The simple statement of a sale is all-suflicient to crowd the great corner store with buyers. This could not be so unless the store held the confidence of the people. There is always the certain knowledge that behind every Melbourne advertisement the goods «re there in the store to iback it up without exaggeration. Some specials for this woek are detailed on page 8 of this issue, and are well worth .perusal.

Although their sale is over in the general sense of the term—that is to say, they are no longer reducing the new goods that are pouring in—Messrs. Hallenstein Bros, advertise some of their remaining cheap lines, all of which will ho sold at the reduced prices. Will you call and see our Is sheetings next time you are in town. We stock these in white and brown from 54 to 72 inches wide, and reckon they are the best value in the Dominion.—Morev and Moore, The Busy Cash Store, opposite Carnegie Library, King-street, New Plymouth.—Advt. CURRENT TOPICS. \ Ladies, this will interest you. Cooper and Co., ladies' tailors, are making a display at New Plymouth of new materials and styles, 'the latest in coat? and skirts.
