PEDIGREE JERSEY STOCK
IMPORTANT SALE. At Mr. Newton King's Waiwakaiho sale yards to-morrow (Wednesday), one of the most important sales of pedigree Jerseys ever held in Taranaiki will take .place; The sale is being conducted on behalf of Mr. 0 .H. Clarke, the wellknown Jersey (breeder, and the catalogue, •which comprises forty-seven lots, contains several illustrations of the stock, and from these it will he readily seen what a splendid: type of Jersey Mr. Clarke is offering. The finest picture of the catalogue is that containing the two-year-old heifers, whilst the illustrations of the cows show some very fine animals. Undoubtedly the attraction of the sale will be the cows which are in calf to that great imported bull, Campanile's Sultan, which, it will be remembered, Mr. Clarke purchased at a very high price at Messrs Griffiths and Corr■wall's sale in November, 11)08, and since then Campanile's Sultan's iprogeny have created quite a record in the show ring. Amongst the cows to be sold is that great dairy cow. - 'Mona," which is being offered at the special request of a lumber of northern breeders. "Mona" is in calf to Campanile's Sultan, and she should ilie keenly competed for when she comes into the ring. Another fine young cow catalogued as lot 14 is "Magnet's Waif II.," one of Mr. Clarke's own breeding, and she is also in calf to Campanile's Sultan. All the springing heifers are in calf to Frisky Campanile (a son of Campanile's iSultan) and they are certainly a very handsome lot and me a credit to their breeler. Another lot to be offered at the special request of a number of -breeders, although not n the catalogue, is a yearling heifer by Campanile's Sultan, out of ''Mona,*' "a perfect little model," and one thai is bound to create spirited competition. Xhe two-year-old hull, lot 42, is Frisky Campanile, purchased by Mr. Clarke at Messrs Griffiths and Cornwall's dispersal sale, and this young animal should help to meet the demand for Campanile's Sultan's stock. Last year Mr. Clarke sow seven of Campanile's Sultan's bull calves, six weeks old, at twenty-five guineas each. Frisky- Campanile is out of Frisky, the dam of Heather and granddam of Lady Disdain. Dairy farmers who perhaps are not in want of .pedigree cows but would like to introduce fresh hlood into their breeds should not miss the chance of securing the young bulls. Our dairy herds certainly need improving, and a splendid •opportunity offers itself of securing some of the best dairying blood in the Dominion. The whole of the lots are to be offered absolutely without reserve, and we predict for Mr. Clarke a most successful sale.
