Some of the German newspapers award General Botha the credit of bringing about the union, and add that South iAf rica, though nominally bound to Great Britain, is in reality independent. CNDEMNATION AND BLAME. Received June 2, 9.30 p.m. Pretoria, June 2. The Transvaal Leader applauds the inclusion of Messrs. Sauer, Malin and Burton in the Union Cabinet. The Johannesburg Star condemns the inclusion of Messrs'. Fischer and Hertzog. The inclusion of the latter has intensely gratified the Free Staters. Mr. Lionel Phillips, speaking at Johannesburg, welcomed Mr. Smuts' appointment.
