AMUSEMENTS.
THE ELLWOOD TRIO. We need 'hardly remind musical enthusiasts that the 'box plans for tin forthcoming visit here will be opened at Collier's this morning. The following from an Auckland contemporary speaks for itself:—"The trio of musical geniuses which were recently unearthed at Christchurch by -Mr. Hugo Gorlitz, have come up to the highest expectations concerning them which were iormea at Auckland. The Ellwoods display amazing musical talent for children oi such tender years, while Miss Winnie Nixon, a 'hospital nurse, whose goal is Europe, has .surprised <her audiences with the brilliancy of her voice." Such a furore did these clever young people create in Wellington that they were invitea to numerous "at homes," garden parties, etc. Among others was an afternoon at Archbishop Redwood's, and so pleased was he with Harry's playing that lie nas lent him one of his valuable violins tor the New Zealand tour. Dr. Findlay, the Minister of Justice, wiho is an expert 'cellist, was so taken by the marvellous iplaying of George that he has allowed him to take liis own 'cello, valued at £2OO, to use during the tour. 'WOMEN'S PARLIAMENT. On Monday evening next a capital evening's amusement will be provided at St. Mary's Hall, where a "Women's Parliament" is to be produced by local young ladies. A very enthusiastic though not large audience attended the Theatre Royal last evening, when "Tlie Caledonians" presented their farewell entertainment. The programme was «a entire change from that given on the'previous evening and as every member of the talented troupe was in good form there was no lack of first-class numbers. Amongst the ibest items were the vocal trios given •by Messrs. Jock Willis, Colin Campbell, and Tam McLean, in which the blending of the voices was perfect. Miss Cissie O'Keefe's best number was '•'Jessie's Dream." The dancing numbers by Messrs. C. C. Macdonald and Dan Macdonald liad' a finish that is not oftdn met with. Altogether the programme provided a very enjoyable evening, ami should '"'The Caledonians" return at a future date we hope ,to see their efforts meet -with better support at the hands 'of New Plymouth theatre-goers.
