THE PICTURE THEFT. By Telegraph—Preßs Association. Wellington, yesterday. The Tier brothers, charged with steal ing the ''Leader" picture, were further remanded to-day till June 8. POSTAL OFFICIAL IN TROUBLE. Ch.ristchiirch, Last Night. Detectives Kennedy and McLeod today arrested Allen F. Young, an exemployee at the Post and Teleg.ranh Office, on two charges of theft of moneys belonging to the Department. It is understood that the charges refer to amounts alleged to have been received by Young, who was employed «t the ro-| ceiving counter in the telegraph office. This afternoon, 'before Mr. H. W. Bishop, S.M., Young appeared on two charges: (1) That he did on l!)th May .'teal the sum of £3 (is fld in money, the' property of the New Zealand Government; and (2) on 21st May did steal a further sum of £3 10s lid, also the property of the Government. Chief Detective Bishop appeared for the police. Accused applied for a remand until the followiugi morning, as he stated that he wanted to obtain the services of a solicitor. The application was granted, and he was remanded until to-morrow.' bail being allowed, himsetf in £SO and one surety of £SO.
