STATE EXAMINATIONS.

The last Gazette notifies that a Civil i Service junior examination will be held in November, 11)10, beginning l on or I about the l!)th clay of the month; that a Junior National ,Scholarship and Junior Free Place examination will be held on or about the first and second days of December 1910; and that a Civil Service Senior examination and an examination'for teachers' certificates of Class C and Class © will be held in January, lflll, 'beginning on or about the fifth day of the month. With the Civil Service Junior examination will be taken the Intermediate examination, being the special examination for senior free places in Secondary | schools and district high schools and the first examination of pupil teachers. With the Junior National Scholarship examination will be ta'ken the Junior Free Place (including the examination! of junior free places in technical schools). Entries for Junior National Scholarships, Junior Free Places' and the first examination of pupil teachers must be made through the principals or head teachers of the schools attended, and will be received by secretaries of Education Boards not later than the 15th, September. 1010. Entries for the Civil Service Junior examination and special examination for Senior Free Places will he received liv the Inspector-General of Schools, at Wellington. until the 15th September, 1010. or, with a late fee of £l, until the 22nd September, 1010. Entries' for the January examinations will be received bv the Inspector-General oof Schools, at Wellington, until the :10th September. 1010, or, with a late fee of £1 in addition to the ordinary fee, until the loth October, 1010. All entries must be made on proper forms, which may be obtained later from the oll'ice of any Education Board or the Education Department.Special attention is drawn to alterations in date for the receipt of applications.
