KING'S BIRTHDAY' TO BE OBSERVED. MESSAGE FROM THE PREMIER. His Worship the Mayor last night received « telegram from Sir Joseph Wand regarding the desire of the King that there should be no celebration of Hi» Majesty's Birthday. A< complications have now arisen owing to the fact that the King's Birthday is « statutory holiday and must therefore be recognised hy a large number of people, a holiday will now be observed on 3rd June. "It is desiraible, however," says the Premier's message, "in view of the King's wish, that no celebration shall take place on that day."
