The I! on. H. H. J. Reeves, M.L.C., is seriously ill at A'e!s>'on. , It is' reported that Miss Allan has resigned her position as matron at the Patea Hospital. Mis's Clarice Buckman has joined Mr. J. C. Grand Opera Company, now showing with "Madam Butterfly" in Wellington Sir G. M. O'Rorke has been reappointed a member of the Council of Auckland University College by the Governor-in-Council. Miss Annie Inkster, M.A., has been appointed to take charge temporarily of tilie secondary classes at the Manaia District High School. Mr. Joseph Clark has signified that lie will not contest the Auckland East 'bye-election, and the Opposition may not now run a candidate. The Rev. Harry D. Burton, Trin. Half. Camh.), Vicar-Designate of .St. Michael's. Cbristehurdh, will leave England for New Zealand, via Sydney, on June 30, by the White Star liner Runic. The death is announced of Mr. Frederick B. Mcßotli, of Kiwitea, who, after a very painful illness, passed away at the residence of his brother-in-law, Mr. T. H. Battle, at Wanganui, on Friday. Mr. Cyril Towsey, the well-known New Zealand pianist, returned by the Ruahine from London on Tuesday. During the last three years he has been engaged in concert work in England and the Continent. Mr. H. B. Reid, a clerk in the Department of Agriculture. Commerce and Tourists. Wellington, has been transferred to the office of the Magistrate's Court, New Plymouth, and will take( up his new duties to-day. The death occurred at the Mastertou Hospital on Saturday of Mr. Jacob Jacobsen from heart trouble. The deceased was born at Dryer ton, liis parents being pioneer settlers of Muuriceville. A widow and two children are left. Mr. R. Tait, Assistant Postmaster at Christchuivh, who is retiring on superannuation after forty-four years service, was presented last night with, ail album signed by chief officers in the Postal Department throughout New Zealand. Mr. Rex Bridge, of the staff of the Bank of New South Wales, Wellington, has been transferred to 'lie -brancdi at Elt'ham. Prior to his de urture on Saturday for Eltliam he 'he recipient of a handsome presentation from his fellow officers.
