( There is no likelihood, it is understood, of the frozen meat freights form New Zealand to Great Britain being raised in sympathy with the increase of %d just decided upon in Australia. The conditions of the trade in the Commonwealth and the Dominion are different. Here the rates are fixed for a long time'ahead by the shipping companies and the freezing works, who. quote "consolidated ' rates" for killing, freezing and shipment. The rates are fixed by a conference of the shipping companies for, stipulated periods, and provision, is made for reduced rates during the "slack" months. In Australia, where there are more shipping companies, no agreement is made between freezing works companies and shipping'companies, consequently there is more figthing for the trade, and rates are sometimes lower than they are in New Zealand and sometimes higher. At present the New Zealand rates' are the lower. ' OVERSEA VESSELS. FOR NEW PLYMOUTH.
