Reid's reception. Among those present were Lord Kitchener, Lord Charles Beresford, the Earl and Countess of Meath, xhe Earl and Countess of March, Mrs. and Miss Asquith, Lord Lamington, Lord Linlithgow, Lord and Lady Brassey, Lord and Lady Tennyson, Lord and Lady Strathcona, Mr. and Mrs. HallJones, Major Poynter, Sir A. Conan Doyle, Sir H. Herkomer, the Kinnards and Mackennals, Mr. M. L. Moss, the Spanish Ambassador, the Countess of Jersey, Dean Wall, Sir G. and Lady Parker, Admiral Rawson, Major General Hutton, Dr. and Mrs. MueCke (Ada Crossley), Admiral Sir Cyprian Bridge, Mr. Taverner (Agent-General for Victoria), Field Marshal Sir Evelyn Wood, the editors of leading London newspapers. Lady and Miss Reid were heartily welcomed. Mr. Roosevelt had conversations with many Australians, and more than once he said it was' the dream of his life to visit and study the great democracy of the southern seas.
