NEW ZEALAND WINE.

A MASTERTON CASE DISMISSED, By Telegraph—Press Association. Masterton, May 28. A test case concerning the liquor licensing laws was before the yesterday, when a charge was made against W. Lamb, proprietor of the Tarania Vineyards, of selling liquor and keeping it for sale within the Nolicense area of Masterton. The point was raised that the Licensing Act of 1881 provides that the Act shall not apply to wine made from grapes grown in New Zealand. The Alcohol Liquors Control Amendment Act, 1905, provides that liquor shall not be sold in a No-license area, no distinction being made in regard to New Zealand grown liquors and others. After legal argument the Magistrate upheld the contention of the defence and dismissed the case.
