HAMILTON-MAXWELL DEAMATIC COMPANY. TO-NIGHT. To-night this excellent company is to appear in the Theatre Royal. ' ''Revenge" is to be staged. It is a drama in which an heir to a throne seeks to supplant the reigning King to satisfy his lust for power. He crushed all who crossed his path, and subordinated his conscience to his ambition. The production is admirable in every way, for the scenery is gorgeous and the dressing in keeping Willi i.lie Royal Palace wherein the situations are created. The players' do their pavlis hv/endidly, and help in the preser.talic:; of one of the finest melodramas see;! for p. long while. Thrilling situations abound, and there is a "quartz reef" of humor running through the piece which counteracts any 'horror which might be experienced at the vile plots of the 'pretenders. It is superfluous to enumerate the capabilities of the members/ of the company, for everyone does such fine work as to make it certain that tfley have made their parts close studies. Seats may be reserved without extra charge at Collier's.
THE CALEDONIANS AND NATIONAL DANCERS. The appearance of the Caledonians' and National Dancers at New Plymouth on Tuesday and Wednesday, under the direction of Mr. Jack Willis, late Pollards, Rickards and Bland Holt companies, should prove very attractive. This is said to be one of the most powerful combinations that has ever toured the Dominion, and the management have at considerable expense been fortunate in securing a company of high class artists. Miss Cissie O'Keefe, late of Pollards, is a great favorite with the public. rtie has a wonderful contralto voice, and is being received with the greatest enthusiasm everywhere. Mr. Dan Macdcnald, winner of Taranaki and New Zealand championships, and Mr. Tam Jafl'icey, champion of Palmerston North and Wellington, will be much appreciated; their dancing is superb, not a faulty step toeing noticeable. Mr. Farquhar Finlayson will be heard on the great Highland War Pipes. The Champion Pipe Band will provide some thrilling music. Do not fail to see this powerful and unique combination's farewell tour of New Zealand prior to touring America. Mr. Percy Hawkins, R.A.M., accompanies the company as musical director and accompanist. Box plan at Colliers'. Note.—Waitara, Monday, May 30; Patea, Thursday and Friday.
