THE CORINNA. The Corinna arrived from Onehunga eariy yesterday morning and to-day she loads dairy produce for transhipment to the Tongariro at Wellington. COAL FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. ; The Kini is due here on Wednesday from Greymouth and Westport with 275 tons of coal. She comes via Onehunga.
The Lyttelton Harbor Board's new Priestman dredge, the Tiwaka, left London for Lyttelton on May 21. According to the contract, the dredge should arrive about the second week in July. The steamer Frankdale has 1 chartered to load case oil at New _orl: for Sydney and Newcastle with tile option of New Zealand.
The Rotoiti left Wellington for Greymouth on Wednesday last to load timiber for Melbourne. It is understood that when the Rotoiti takes up the Mel-Ibourne-S'tralian-Hobart passenger service the Wainui will run between Launceston and Strahan, via ports. The recent fresh in the river does not appear, as expected, to have improved the bar (says the Foxton Herald;. In fact, we are'informed it has had the opposite effect. Last week the Queen of the South stuck for a considerable time, and was further delayed in port despite the fact that she was only drawing six feet fore and aft. The Gertie and Wairau met with similar drawbacks. The Waverley and Woatton were refused permission to cross the bar, and proceeded elsewhere to discharge. Prior to last week, and for a period of two months, anly three small cargoes of coal have been landed at the .port, and coal has been railed from Wellington for local consumption. The position has become serious, and unless something is done at the 'earliest .possible moment to improve .the bar, there is every probability of the .port becoming unnavigable.
