REM- JN OF THE CHARUES At Monday's meeting of the County Council a committee was set up to consider the revision of the toll tarilT at the Punilio toll gate, consequent upon the request of the Opunake Motor Transport Company for a reduction in the fees col' '!<"! from their waggons. The committee met yesterday. Crs. J. It. Hill, E. Ai. !!>-.m and C. Carter attending. Cr. 1 iii 1 was appointed chairman. The county i-'.rvk produced a schedule showing tlie receipts at the gates during the .months of February, March and April, the summary of which was as follows:—
Motor waggons. 175 trips, ,paul .£43 5s in fees; motor cars (2s fid), 00 trips, £ll ss; motor cars (ss), 07 trips l ,' £lO 15s; coach (4 horses), 152 trips, £lB !i()s: waggon U hi>r»cs). 0 tri> 15s; waggon, (5 horsesi. 140 trips. £2l 18s; waggons (0 horses). 41 trips, £7 3s (id.
Tlie committee considered the schedule, and arrived at a tariff which, wmlst acceding\ to the request of the Motor Company, would not affect tlie earnings of the gate. Cr. Allanson gave notice of motion for th" next Council meeting to amend the list of charges. Under this proposed tariff the charges for a 4-horse waggon ■v ; ll be increased from 2s Gd to 3s Gd; 5-horse waggon, from 3*' to 4s; (i-liorse waggon, from 3s fid to 4s fid. The motor trafl'ic is dealt with as follows:—For every motor car, 12 h.p. or under (formerly 2s Gd), now 3s Gd; for every motorv lorrv or motor coach drawing not more than three tons, with rubber tyres (ss), now 3s 9d.
