Mr. Wade, speaking at the annual conference of the Labor and Reform Association, said that, while a superficial view of the result of the Federal elections might lead to the conclusion that they must be prepared tor a wave of feeling in favor of the Opposition at the ■State"elections, a careful examination of the returns' led him to the conclusion that there was 110 justification for assuming that the Liberal Party, as far as State issues were concerned, was in a hopeless or even unfavorable position. Speaking! at Tamworth. the Minister of Lands,'claiming success of the closer settlement movement, foreshadowed a wide extension of the system.
