Replying' to President Taft's fresh invitation to reopen tlie tariff reciprocity negotiations, the Canadian Government asks for a postponement until September, owiiiigi to the absence of .Sir Wilfrid Lauvier and the Hon. W. S. Fielding and other Ministers during most of the summer. Meanwhile negotiations for trade agreements are proceeding with Italy and Belgium, similar to that arranged with 1< ranee. and it is likely they will be successful at ail earlv date.
