N.P. OPERATIC SOCIETY.
IXAUUUitAL MEETIXG. There was a largely-attended meetiiif last night of .persons interested in the formation of an operatic society in New Plymouth. There were about sixty present, Mr. H. Okey, M.P., presiding. It was unanimously deckled to form a society, to be called the Xew Plymouth Opentic Society. Mer bevsliip fees were fixed :it 5s for gentlemen and 2s (id for ladies lor working tvembers. :inrt half a auinea for subscribing members, the subscribing member to receive two dress circle season tickets for each performance, one of these to he transferable. Officers were elected: Patron, his Worship the Mayor (Mr. (I. Tisch); president, Mr. IT. Okey, M.P.; vice-presidents. Drs. Leatham, Fookes, Wylie, McC'leland, Blae-klcy, and Home, Hon's. T. Kelly and 0. Samuel. M.L.CVs, Messrs. W. T." Jennings. M.P., T-l. Weston, W. G. Malone. D. Teed, W. Bewlev, E. Cock, C. T. Mills. J. Smith. B. Enroth, and Rev. E." G. Evans; committee. Mrs. Dell, Misses E. Buckman and Free, Messrs. F. J. Easthor. T. R. Southall, B. MeEwen. and B. Lewis; secretary, Mr. A. L. Humphries; treasurer, Mr. E. Gilmour; stage manager, Mr. T. R. Southall; assistant stage manager, Mr.' F. J. Easther; selection committee, the stage managers and conductor; musical director, Mr. F. Cornwall ; pianist, Mr. B. Lewis.
The committee was instructed to draft rules and submit them to a future meetin'"' for' adoption. The committee win ■also select two or three suitable oneras and submit them to the next meetiii".
