GOOD TEMPLARS' FAIR.
The Good Templars' fancy fair at St. Mary's Hull was opened yesterday afternoon by Mr. TT. Okey, M.P. There was a very fair attendance of the public at the opening ceremony, and al! the stalls were fully "manned." Mr. Okey congratulated the Mount Kgniont Lodge of Good' Templars upon the spirit of enterprise shown in undertaking the erection of a temperance hall, and expressed the opinion that all classes of ipcople mia'ht well assist them in bringing the project to a successful issue. The interior of the hall had been "in the hands of the decorators" to some ■purpose, «nd some very effectively draped and splendidly stocked stalls were there, all ready for business. To particularise the goods offered. for sale at remarkably reasonable prices would be rather too great a tax on our space. There is everything that one expects to find at a fancy fair or bazaar, exceit raffles and guessing competitions. The electrical display of "Professor Sparkes" is a, new feature, and should act as a hint to the municipal electrical department to give (practical displays of the •utility of electricity in the household j and otherwise. The whole of the elec-) trie wiring of the place, including" the supper - rooms and (private supper j "boxes," was done gratuitously by Messrs. Nixon and Nixon. Miss Dowlinig, who was in charge of the musical 'programme for the afternoon and evening, opened the proceedings with a vionn solo, Mrs. Dowling playing the accompaniment. A Tliemodistpianola andHaaice piano were played at intervals during the day, these instruments having been lent by Mr. Hoffmann (British and Continental Piano Company). Good business was done in all departments, and (present indications are that the expectations of the promoters will be fully realised. The bazaar opens at one o'clock today, and will .he open all the evening. The Garrison Band will ma roll from the centre 'of the town to the hall this evening, playing en route.
